Master-PhD Combined Program in Meat Science and Processing Technology 

An opportunity for pursuing PhD is offered by Prof. Lee Sung Ki from Laboratory of Meat Science and Processing Technology, Kangwon National University. We are seeking a bachelor degree holder in animal science or related field or to be graduated before October 2017 who possess open-minded personality, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong academic credentials and passion in meat science and processing technology, and independently motivated but willing to work in a team, to join our lab as a PhD candidate. 

Candidates are required to send following documents to until March, 1st, 2017 with e-mail subject PhD KNU

1. A curriculum vitae with a list of three references (full name & email address) 

2. An essay (title, abstract, introduction, literature review, discussion, implications, references) outlining the current trend of one of the following research clusters; 

Cluster meat biochemistry, e.g. postmortem ageing, lipid oxidation 

Cluster meat processing, e.g. fermented sausage, emulsion-type products, processing and preservation technology 


Font: Times New Roman, size 12, double-space, A4, 2.5 cm margin. 

3. Current academic records (Indonesian version) 


Master-PhD Combined Program: 

1. A total of 60 credits must be obtained (8 semesters course work). 

2. Candidates do not need to prepare master thesis, only PhD dissertation in the final of their study (without master title). 


Scholarship: BEST-KNU; cover tuition fee, health insurance and academic advisor will cover dormitory cost and living expenses. 

Upon acceptance, selected candidate will be informed and assisted to prepare and submit required documents for upcoming admission (whether Fall 2017 or Spring 2018) 

Below are the required documents according to spring 2017 guidelines (requirements may change): 

1. Application form 

2. A copy of passport (identity page and address page) 

3. An official copy of bachelor’s diploma (verified by South Korean consulate, Jakarta) 

4. An official copy of academic records (verified by South Korean consulate, Jakarta) 

5. Study plan 

6. A recommendation letter written by academic advisor or dean of college (current university) or a career certificate in case of employer 

7. Language proficiency certificate (select 1): 



Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) at least level 3 

English proficiency; TOEIC 700, IELTS 5.5, TEPS 600, TOEFL IBT 80 

Confirmation letter to submit the certificate by designated date if the certificate is not available at the time of admission. 

8. A recommendation letter written by prospective academic advisor (written by Prof. Lee Sung Ki) 

9. Financial support statement (written by Prof. Lee Sung Ki) 

10. Original and English copies of family registration card.
